Precision steel shafts in the CS series use C45 steel with a hard-chromed running surface for rigid, cost-effective linear motion. The 60 HRC surface supports wear resistance while the h8 tolerance provides controlled bearing fit.
Precision Steel Shafts for Cost-Effective Linear Motion
CS shafts are suitable for general machinery, automation and linear plain-bearing systems that need a hard running surface at a practical cost. In addition, they can be supplied with standard aluminum supports and assembled for installation.
The hard-chromed surface resists wear and helps protect the shaft in normal industrial environments. However, the operating conditions should still be reviewed when moisture, chemicals or washdown are present.
C45 Steel and Hard-Chrome Surface
The base material is C45 steel, selected for strength and dimensional stability. Diameters range from 6 to 30 mm, with h8 tolerance and maximum lengths of 1000 mm or 3000 mm depending on diameter.
For example, a 12 mm precision steel shaft can be used in a compact linear guide, while a 25 mm shaft may be selected for a longer stroke or higher load. As a result, diameter selection should consider stiffness as well as bearing size.
